He went to lift his last knight while mumbling with still lips "I must have missed something". I realized he was no longer referring to the pieces on the board, so I hit the clock and put a stop to the shake in his hand by grabbing it and saying "we should have played checkers instead". He looked up at me with his aging eyes, both sitting in a sack of skin that could only be resting on knowledge, and whispered, " Now, you finally get it". As I let go of his hand, he placed down the knight to put me in checkmate, then brought up his voice now filled with joy and continued " I am on my way out friend, always remember that it is the same board with different pieces, you just don't have to think as much". tonight I played a show I didn't let anybody know I just grabbed my guitar and walked out the door and said baby I gotta go there was a moment of freedom in the middle of my set that no drug or drink ever provided yet I still wasn't high enough I poured my soul out I nearly sold out i felt the eyes on me I sang my song I shared my pain and I did it all for free my love my life my joy again for a moment they felt the same upon the stage my mind erased I wish they remembered my name immediately after i signed a CD upon a request and yet i still felt i was alone I wanted to get out of there as fast as I could I wanted to hurry home I can't stay out there anymore i wish my eyes had never seen what they put in front of me my ears are killing from all the noise I'm hearing in the street I can't escape it I can't erase it I just want some relief I wish I could hold them closer to me I wish I could make them care is there anybody there is there anybody there I wanted to do so much for all of them for a moment...they knew I was here Sports Picks Challenges! make custom gifts at Zazzle |
